GVN is proud to announce our newest partner, working with disadvantaged rural communities in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Volunteers can work in a variety of projects in different villages for the month of August 2008. Our volunteers first go through an initial training period consisting of sessions designed to enhance personal development, and introduce the volunteer to rural living conditions.After the personal development stage of the program, volunteers will begin their specific placements where they will stay for the rest of the month. Our partner’s focus is on community empowerment, but placements in childcare, teaching, environmental and waste management, or research and writing are also available. . GVN Foundation - Refugee Camp DonationGVN Foundation has sent $2,707 to support the refugee camp in Kenya that resulted from the recent political unrest. This money will purchase food for hundreds of refugees. . One Month China Rural Placements Available

GVN Foundation - Recent Grants, 22 April 2008GVN Foundation sent the following grants April 22, 2008: Ghana Partner- $3,200- to construct health and sanitation billboards and help with the running costs of a feeding program. Uganda Partner School- $3360- to purchase supplies for a laboratory, so our GVN Foundation sponsored school can teach science classes. Vietnam Partner- $2,800- to assist with school fees, a feeding program and provide a physio to kids with disabilities . Vietnam Fee ReductionThe Vietnam (Orphanage) program fee has been reduced, and the change will be effective immediately for volunteers paying their application fee from now. Anyone who raises $500 or more from their event will be entered into our drawing to help distribute funds raised!
