GVN Video Center

Whilst setting up each individual program that GVN runs, it is essential that we visit the country and the local organizations that we will be working with in order to gain an insight into the cultural and technical aspects of the program. In GVN's first years, Colin Salisbury, executive director of GVN, was able to capture hours of video footage in countries all around the world, before bringing it back to the GVN office in New Zealand for the team to watch. Footage included interviews with partner organizations, interviews from volunteers, stunning views from incredible locations, and lots of children laughing at their own faces caught in moving images. Furthermore, GVN continues to send staff around the world to check on their programs: all the while collecting more footage and examples of unique cultures and amazing people.

The GVN media team decided it was time to put all of Colin's archived footage to good use and to pass it on to those who would benefit from it the most; volunteers. We sort through the archives, and along with more up to date recordings, put together videos to inform, to guide and hopefully to entertain. In these videos you can listen to fellow volunteers talking about their experiences, listen to partner organizations talking about their programs, and even more important: get to see for yourself where you will be going and who you will be working with so that you might have a better understanding and comprehension of what to expect when you start a program with GVN. We hope that these videos will give you a more intimate insight into what volunteering is really like and what GVN aims to provide.
